Website criticial
I can say honestly that i will probably never view another webpage the same. When it comes to the first impression of design and navigation you can see why a company would hire someone to build them a site. It tells you alot without even beginning to read the site. Then usability plays a part with the overall functionality of the site. Creating a happy user. I can definetily see where the design and times goes in on a website and will be very mindful of this in the future.
WebSite Evaluation
I started with webpage www.abright.edu and I'd have to say that it loaded extremly fast and most of the important information was right in the 600x800 window unless your a student like myself who needs this site to access various things that are linked in small text at the bottom of the page. The webpage delivers a somewhat appealing webpage with a little room for improvement. However aesthetics aside the navigation is superb with repetition and a nice frame style. I can easily move around the site and use the site map if i get lost or need a certain place. Also, the search function help this cause greatly.
The second webpage I choose is www.dansplumbing.net which the worst part of the site is when opened you know immediately it was created by an amateur since the whole graphic is left justified. Then we have navigation of the site but also links everywhere which lead to sites that are important to the plumber perhaps but not the customer looking for a professional with all the answer and recommendations. Then we have difference fonts in every aspect of the page with mostly a two color design again giving off that amatuer look. this website needs a once over to give a more professional appeal.

Quiz on Pg. 154
Right away the second webpage strikes me and lets me know what i am looking at.
The first webpage has a few problems with navigation and interface. The first problem is this page doesn't fit into the window properly and requires you to scroll down to navigate the site. Also, we have a image map that is not backed up with text of an index for easy movement. There seems to be no navigation style as well. Meaning that no frame or cleaver style is being utilized when visiting this site. The interface is poorly done and webpage doesnt initially tell me what it is and whats purpose it serves me.
All these negatives are corrected in the second webpage. The designer choose to use a frame to create easier navigation and repetition. Images are used with an alternate index incase of not being able to view the image maps. The webpage fits perfectly onto the window. The text is all readable and no strain on your eyes with a left to right readability.

readability vs. legibility
Readability talks about large bodies of text, and is more the guidelines to making it easy to read this text. Legibility is more the construct of small, quick text and the rules thats apply to the varying ways people will view such text.
Typography is a set of rules and guidelines that follow how we can set up a website to make it readable and legible. It goes on to explain how computers are all essentially different in some degrees and ways to correct how someone will see this. These tools will become very helpful in creating my own site. There were many things that I would have never considered, someone not having a font that I had and getting a default font loosing the purpose of using that said font.

Niagara Picture
After opening the file in photoshop i would make a copy of the first layer so I can return to the original photo if necessary. Next , I would resize the image from the large photo size since i'm working with a digital photo and they tend to be large in dimensional size. Now I have to adjust the resolution to control how web browsers view my photo and make the resolution 72 a standard for the web. Since I do not want the tourist in my photo I can crop them out of the photo leaving me with the desired picture I want. All i need to do now is save as the new photo as a jpeg and then follow this with a save for web as a nicely reduced file size making my photo web friendly and a much smaller file size.
Creation of the Poll
I found it very easy to find the polling gadget since i had been experimenting with the gadgets previously. It didn't take me too long to come up with the question though which is surprising and even some people commented on that being a struggle. Love that some are thinking of food, and yet some are taking the more serious route to pondering life's more interesting questions.

Design in my life...
Graphic Design is present in almost anything we view. From my morning cereal box and the tube of toothpaste i use. Someone has to design those packages. Then there is the thousands of other pieces of design we all come past everyday. Someone designed the brochure that sits in my glove compartment of my new car. The dozen or so billboards I see driving to work are designed by someone. websites that I visit for entertainment, work, and or even school are all designed by someone who wants me to see it. It all serves almost the same idea, LOOK AT ME, everything is designed to convey a message. Even this very blog has been design to my liking for the fact that someone else will have to look at it and see what message im giving out. Both print and the web present such a demanding role in most every aspect of our lives, it really does make me think of design in a new light and consider thing about it I once never thought.
WEB DESIGN vs. PRINT DESIGN
Looking at the big differences between the two would have to be the limitations of print vs the limitless ability of the web. I can create a four page brochure with a couple pictures and have to be careful how much information I put on and in the end still only have four pages. On a website I can convey they same information and then some with multiple pages and any interactions I want or would require. The next big difference I see is with print you get what you see, meaning you set the settings on how you want it to print and viola thats what you get. A we designer would have to take mind to people's choice of web browser, or even how text may look to someone (size, color, etc.). Not knowing exactly how it's going to be viewed can bring some challenges to a web designer than someone designing something for print since the method in which it's printed on is how it will be viewed. Each design has it's applications and certain situations warrant either and it would seem except for maybe news one day neither design is going to take over the other.
Page 122 Quiz:
1) Print: stockholder want a tangible item they can read at their leisure without means of a computer
2) Print: As a designer I would want to show my stuff, have it pop out of the pages and not all advertising is one the web
3) Web: I am a software company, it would seem that i have the best and easiest means of upgrades through my website
4) Web: Clients can see it anytime, and view updates as they are done, this also doesnt limit you to show information in manhy forms, ex. video;podcast;audio;etc.
5) Web: It would keep the cost way down and allow anyone to access the information
6) Print: There is something to be said about having something to thumb through and if i was to have my life's work created I would want to see it and view with my eyes, just like that of a painting

Link List
Link list almost made me feel like i never used a computer ever before... However I have recovered and found that it was all right in front of my face and just hadn't quite taken the last step to do it all. All in all it is now easy to do and I have found some other things. Plus a huge shout out to everyone who said they liked my background. I like Ann's Background maybe its just the shiny colors!
